Rockwell Automation Safety Mat System MatGuard Control Unit
Complete your pressure sensitive MatGuard safety system and minimise risk injury to personnel in hazardous areas with the 440F-C4000P Matguard Control Unit. This device is designed to work within the MatGuard presence sensing system and monitor any number of mats which are connected together, forming a safeguarded zone up to a total area of 100m². The unit interfaces with the control circuitry of the machine and includes two safety relays for control redundancy.
The 440F Safety Mats offer whole body detection on the sensing surfaces. When the surface is clear the controller sends a signal to the control circuit of the machine. Conductive plates within the mat touch when the mat is stepped on and resistance in the circuit falls to zero. The controller then sends a shutdown signal to the machine, preventing risk of injury to operators within the dangerous area.
440F-C4000P MatGuard Controller
The 440F-C4000P controller has a selectable power supply of 230/110V AC (50-60Hz) and 24V AC/DC +10% -15%. The enclosure is made of polycarbonate and it has an operating temperature range of -10°C to +45°C. The housing has an environmental protection rating of IP65, which ensures that it is fully protected against ingress of dust particles and can withstand low-pressure water jets. The impulse withstand voltage is 2500V.

What is MatGuard?

What are Safety Relays?
Safety relays are monitoring devices which are used to continuously check for errors or faults in a machine safety system, and can implement safety commands when they detect these errors to bring the risk down to an acceptable level. By doing this, they defend against hazards which could cause injury to personnel and damage to machinery. Single function relays manage one specific function, while multi-function relays can oversee different activities. Safety relays can also be connected to each other. They are often used in industrial environments such as factories, as part of a safety system for dangerous machines. Typical applications include: safety mats, emergency stop push-buttons, light curtains, and magnetic switches.
