What's the difference between snap-action and slow-make switching?

In snap-action switching, the contacts will immediately change position no matter how fast you press the push button. For slow-make switching, the contact movement is directly linked to the pressing of the push button, so the change in position is precise. Thanks to the rapid movement of the snap-action contacts, there's less mechanical friction between them, which reduces the risk of wear for a longer service life.
