The Broadcom ToF multi-pixel AFBR-S50 series optical distance and motion measurement sensor module delivers high speed and accurate measurements at medium distance ranges up to 10m. The 3D Time of flight sensor AFBR-S50MV68B has very low power consumption and is compact in size.
With an integrated 680 nm laser light source this 3D Time of flight sensor operates up to 100k Lux ambient light, also due to its suppression it can be used outside in sunlight conditions. Depending on the distance and remission of the object being measured it illuminates between 1 and 2 pixels due to the transmitter beam of 1°x 1° emission cone. The sensor accurately measures against different coloured surfaces along with metallic and retroreflective surfaces.
Applications for the ToF sensor module include distance measurement, security surveillance where the 3D image sensing is more accurate, robotics and factory automation to safely identify people or objects. Can be found in environments of human machine interface areas, along with light barriers, automotive production and healthcare settings.
