The fiber-optic (ribbon) cable interconnects are fed through the backplane to removable systems modules using standard-grade Multi-Mode MT ferrules. The fibre optic MT VITA 66 backplane receptacle kit has guide pins for blind mating and the mating VITA 66.1 modular plug (daughtecard) connector has a slot feature in the housing that facilitates cleaning the MT ferrule interfaces.
