The B&R Industrial Automation GmbH Fieldbus CANopen features 16 digital channels configurable as inputs or outputs, auto-configuration of I/O modules, and easy I/O configuration using Automation Studio V4.3 or later. It ensures constant response times even with large amounts of data, supporting up to 32 Rx and 32 Tx PDOs, with a configurable I/O cycle ranging from 0.5 to 4 ms. Controller Area Network (CAN) is widely used in automation technology, employing a line topology and twisted wire pairs for data transfer, while CANopen, as a higher-layer protocol based on CAN, provides standardized and highly flexible configuration options.
