3M IDC Connector, 20 Way, 2 Rows - 4600 Series - 4620-6001

Need to make quick, secure connections with ribbon cable? If you choose this IDC (insulation-displacement contact) connector from 3M, you won't need to strip or prepare any of the conductors. It's also suitable for use with separate stranded or solid wires, offering versatility when building your system. The glass-filled polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) insulator combines excellent dielectric properties with mechanical strength, and an optional metal strain relief is available (838-1492) to help prolong the life of the cable.

• Shrouded design protects the pins against physical or chemical damage

• Open end covers allow easy daisy-chaining and bussing

• Right-angled body orientation helps you save space and build a compact setup

• Wide operating temperature range of -55ºC to +105ºC for use in extreme environments

• UL 94V-0 flammability rating means it's self-extinguishing in the event of a fire

Applications

• Computer systems

• Telecommunications

• Solid state drives

What's an IDC connector?

An IDC connector uses a blade or blades to pierce the insulating material on wires and terminate them without the need for stripping. IDC connectors are commonly used with ribbon cables to make quick and easy electrical connections.
