Schneider Electric Quick PRD Surge Protection Devices

Schneider Electric quick PRD surge protection devices offer protection of electrical installations in all industrial and tertiary buildings against induced or conducted surges resulting from indirect lightning strikes. Applications include the residential sector, industrial and tertiary buildings.

Maximum discharge current 8 to 65 kA.
Maximum steady state voltage, Uc = 260, 440 V.
Suitable for any earthing system: TT, TN-S, TN-C and IT.
Fixed or withdrawable surge arresters.
Multiple-pole or single-pole products to be assembled.
Contacts for the remote transfer of end-of-life information.
Integrated disconnector for short-circuit current withstand, Isc, up to 25 kA (IEC 61643-11, version 2005): Quick PF, Quick PRD ranges.
Surge arrester/disconnector combinations certified for short-circuit current withstand, Isc, up to 50 kA (IEC 61643-11, version 2005): PF and PRD ranges.

The Moxa Europe Managed Rackmount Ethernet switch built for power substation automation and other mission-critical industrial applications. It delivers high-speed, reliable communication in harsh environments. Its compliance with IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613 standards ensures zero packet loss and robust electromagnetic immunity. It features critical packet prioritization, a built-in MMS server, and a configuration wizard designed specifically for substation automation.

Isolated redundant power inputs
Turbo Ring and Turbo Chain for network redundancy
Noise Guard technology

Surge Protection Devices, SPDs (DIN-rail)

Voltage surges, often referred to as spikes or transients are typically caused by switching of fluorescent lights, fuses blowing or nearby lightning activity. The worst voltage spikes are usually caused by lightning strikes and can reach up to 6000V, with current surges of over 3000A. The maximum size of the let-through voltage and current inrush depends on the location within the building's wiring system. BS7671: 2011 Amendment 1 Sections 443 and 534 cover risk assessment and provides guidance on protection of electronic equipment for installation engineers to follow. The fullest information on lightning and surge protection comes from the BSEN 62305 series of standards.
