RS PRO Aluminium Shielded Enclosure Boxes, Natural IP67

Introducing the shielded aluminium enclosures from RS PRO, a range of moulded diecast aluminium enclosures with screening seal to protect against electromagnetic and radio interference. These durable enclosures offer excellent protection of internal electrical and non-electrical components and can be used in a variety of environments. This high standard enclosure features a silicone gasket offering IP67 protection and a conductive gasket for EMI shielding. The holes for mounting the enclosure and fastening the lid are located outside the inner section for added reliability.

Features and Benefits

• Wall mounting holes and fixing screws are outside the sealing area for true seal protection
• M4 countersunk stainless screws are included to secure the cover and the body
• Supplied with a continuous silicone gasket to meet IP67 rating and a conductive gasket for EMI shielding
• Suitable for a wide range of applications
• Diecast aluminium alloy construction

Applications

Aluminium enclosures are ideal for use as a general purpose enclosure, due to their lightweight yet durable design. aluminium enclosures are also great for RF projects or projects which are subject to weather. Due to the construction of the enclosures, they can also be used for projects involving heat as the cases make an excellent heat sink. Die cast aluminium enclosures are used in a wide range of applications such as:

• Electrical
• Button switching elements
• Telecommunication
• Network Junction boxes
• Mechanical and automation

What is the IP rating?

IP rating is known as – Ingress Protection or International Protection Rating Ratings are defined to the International Standard EN 60529 (British BS EN 60529:1992, European IEC 60529:1989)
The standards are used to define the level of sealing effectiveness of electrical enclosures.

Standard denotes the protection against foreign bodies like dirt and water.
This enclosure features an ingress protection rating of IP67, ensuring the enclosure is completely protected from ingress of dust and water if the enclosure is submerged in water of up to 1m.

Can this enclosure be used outside?

This enclosure can be used indoors and outdoors, with an IP67 rating protecting internal components from dust and water.

What Is EMI Shielding?

EMI – Electromagnetic shielding. Reduces the electromagnetic field in a space by blocking the field with barriers with conductive or magnetic materials. Shielding is applied to enclosure boxes to isolate electrical devices from their surroundings. Electromagnetic shielding that blocks radio frequency electromagnetic radiation is also known as RF shielding.

Note

For black painted versions see stock no. 700-4113 , etc.

IP rating is known as – Ingress Protection or International Protection Rating

Ratings are defined to the International Standard EN 60529 (British BS EN 60529:1992, European IEC 60529:1989)

The standards are used to define the level of sealing effectiveness of electrical enclosures.

Standard denotes the protection against foreign bodies like dirt and water.

The rating consists of the letters IP followed then by 2 digits/numbers (IP 67).

The first number stands for the level of protection provided against solid bodies.

The second number describes the degree of protection for the equipment within the enclosure from water.

Example IP67 (6) = First number (6) Solids, Dust.

Example IP67 (7) = Second number (7) Liquids, strong water jets, fluid immersion

What Is ADC12?

ADC mean's – Aluminium Die Castings

High density casting

Performs well at high temperatures, has a high temperature strength

Light weight

What Is A Silicon Gasket?

High performance mechanical seal.

When used with enclosures the seal helps to protect the contents within the enclosure.

Excellent resistance to extreme temperatures.

Good UV and Ozone properties suitable for outdoor applications.

Silicon does not react with the majority of chemicals.
