Carbon Film Resistors 0.25W

The RS PRO series of carbon film axial leaded resistors offer excellent long term stability and feature standard solder-plated copper leads. The carbon film is the most common axial leaded resistor which is used for applications where a very good tolerance and temperature coefficient are not necessary.

Features

Available in resistances from 1 Ohm to 9.1 mOhm
0.25W power rating
5% tolerance
Resistor body 2.3 mm in diameter, 6.3 mm in length
Carbon film construction
Long-term stability
Solder plated copper leads

Benefits of Carbon Composition

Carbon composition resistors are made from a moulded carbon powder that has been mixed with a phenolic resin to bind and create a uniform resistive body. It is then surrounded in an insulating case after attaching end leads.

Carbon composition resistors are used in applications in which the initial tolerance does not need to be any closer than +/- 5% of the value.

What does the power rating mean?

The power rating of a resistor describes the amount of power that the resistor can dissipate safely.

What do the colours mean?

Each of the colour bands has a specific meaning. The first two colours give the base value of the resistor, the next gives the multiplier and the final band the tolerance. If a resistor has five bands, it is a more precise resistor, in which the first three bands represent the base values, and the fourth and fifth represent the multiplier and tolerance respectively.

RS PRO

RS PRO is our own brand range and brings you a wide range of high-quality, great value products offering you more choice. Trusted by engineers all over the world, every part of every RS PRO product has been rigorously tested against demanding industry standards; they’re only given the RS PRO Seal of Approval if we’re confident of their exceptional quality, which means you can be confident too.

The Ruland Four beam coupling is engineered for precision and durability, designed for applications that require high torque capacity and minimal backlash. Its robust construction from 303 stainless steel ensures long-lasting performance, while the zero-backlash feature enhances operational accuracy, especially in high-speed settings of up to 6,000 RPM. The coupling's balanced design mitigates vibration, promoting smooth operation in dynamic environments. With intricate spiral cuts, this coupling can handle greater angular and parallel misalignments than traditional single beam couplings, making it an ideal choice for a variety of mechanical systems. Manufactured in the USA under stringent quality controls, this coupling is compliant with RoHS3 and REACH standards, guaranteeing safe use in diverse applications. If you’re seeking reliability and high performance under pressure, this four beam coupling stands out in its field.

Designed for high torque capacities without compromising performance
Machined from premium 303 stainless steel for enhanced durability
Zero-backlash design improves accuracy in rotational applications
Ratings allow for use in high-speed operations of up to 6,000 RPM
Incorporates two sets of spiral cuts for improved torque transfer
Balanced design reduces unwanted vibration in dynamic setups
Manufactured using advanced techniques to ensure quality and reliability
Fully metric hardware and torque specifications facilitate easy installation

A comprehensive range of high stability carbon film resistors qualified and tested to the requirements of IEC 115 and IEC 115-2. The ruggedised welded cap and lead method of manufacture provides a considerable strength and resistance to damage. The coating materials and the colour bands are epoxy resin and are highly resistant to solvents, abrasion and chipping. Improvements in materials and processing have allowed the rated power to be improved. Excellent stability against changes in load conditions or moisture levels, with a low noise level and high reliability make these carbon film resistors suitable for a wide range of applications. Rated at 70°C in free air mounted horizontally. Climatic category 55/155/56.
