Molex Mini-Fit Female Crimp Contact, 16AWG - 5556 Series - 39-00-0078

Use this Molex female crimp contact to make a secure electrical connection to terminal wires sized 16AWG (American Wire Gauge) or to a PCB (printed circuit board). The pin and receptacle terminals offer multiple points of contact that create a strong connection and offer a high current capacity. Locking tangs grasp the contact to hold it securely in the housing and provide greater durability. This contact can handle harsh industrial environments, as it has a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +105°C.

• Part of the Mini-Fit series, so suited to tight spaces

• Low halogen content reduces the risk of toxic fumes in case of fire

• Tin-plated brass construction for greater conductivity and resistance to corrosion

Applications

• Automotive industry

• Industrial machining and automation

• Medical equipment

Are crimped contacts better than soldered contacts?

The bond created by a crimp contact is mechanically stronger than the alloy bond in a solder contact. Also, crimp contacts create an airtight seal, so no moisture or debris can get in and contaminate the connection. This all adds up to greater reliability and a long-lasting join.

Mini-Fit Crimp Contacts

Molex Mini-Fit pin and receptacle crimp contacts are connector contacts for use in the Mini-Fit Junior plug and receptacle housings. These crimp pin and receptacle terminals feature multiple points of contact for a reliable electrical connection and a higher current carrying capacity. Locking tangs on the crimp contacts secure them firmly in the connector housing. These Mini-Fit crimp contacts are available with a range of platings and wire size ranges for design flexibility.
