Siemens SIRIUS Innovation 3-Pole Contactor, 5.5kW, 12A - 3RT2 Series - 3RT2017-1BB42

This 3-pole contactor from Siemens' SIRIUS Innovation range is a space-saving control and protection solution for industrial motors and other high-power loads. It has a robust thermoplastic housing that's durable and weatherproof, making it suitable for use in harsh environments. Thanks to a power rating of 5.5kW, it's ideally suited to heavy-duty applications, while low power loss of 1.2W improves energy efficiency in production and assembly lines. For short-circuit protection, the contactor has integrated fuses that cut power when a fault occurs. It also has a rated surge voltage of 6kV, so it can withstand sudden voltage spikes without damage.

• Screw terminals for quick and simple installation

• IP20 (ingress protection) rating indicates resistance to dust and objects larger than 12mm in size

• Mechanical life of 30 million operations for reliably long service

• Can be rotated +/-180° on a vertical mounting surface for optimal flexibility

What is surge voltage?

Surge voltage, also known as 'transient voltage' is a sudden, unexpected and irregular rise in voltage in a power system. It can cause severe damage to electrical equipment if safety devices aren't installed to manage it.
