Siemens SIRIUS Innovation 3-Pole Contactor, 5.5kW, 12A - 3RT2 Series - 3RT2017-1AB01

Use this compact contactor from Siemens' SIRIUS Innovation range to effectively switch high-power loads on or off. It can stand alone as a protective device or you can use it with a control relay as a motor starter. The unit is built for heavy-duty applications and can deliver up to 5.5kW of power to industrial motors and switchgear. Thermoplastic housing provides excellent impact resistance in harsh environments and can also serve as insulation, protecting you from electric shocks and enhancing workplace safety. With a mechanical service life of 30 million switching cycles, you can rely on this contactor for long-term performance.

• Wide operating temperature range of -25°C to +60°C for use in demanding environments
• Can be rotated +/-180° on a vertical mounting surface for flexibility
• Integrated fuse for effective short-circuit protection
• Rated surge voltage of 6kV to handle sudden spikes and ensure electrical safety

What could cause failure in a contactor?

The major cause of failure in a contactor is contact sticking. This occurs when more current is passed through the component's power contacts than it can carry. With time, this can cause overheating and the contacts may stick as a result.
