Applications The hybrid power relay is suitable for switching high inductive or capacitive loads, for example, energy-saving lamps. Areas of use include heating, climate control, ventilation and lighting applications.
Design and function The hybrid switching relay has an output relay with a triac switched in parallel. The triac adopts the load when the switch is triggered. The continuous current, on the other hand, flows away from the relay contact on account of the triac's larger power dissipation. The device is only suitable for switching AC loads as the triac only switches off at zero phase crossing.
