What does the utilisation category AC1 and AC3 mean for the TeSys contactors?

Contactor utilisation categories define the current making and breaking values, based on the type of load to be controlled and the operating cycle conditions.
  • AC-1: This applies to all AC devices with a power factor of at least 0.95. Example of use: resistive load, heating, distribution.

  • AC-3: This applies to squirrel cage motors where breaking occurs while the motor is running. Example of use: all squirrel cage motors, lifts, escalators, conveyors, bucket elevators, compressors, pumps, mixers, air conditioning units.

What accessories are available?

• Auxiliary contact blocks with serrated wiping action
• Front mount dust tight auxiliary contact blocks
• Pneumatic time delay blocks
• Transient voltage surge suppressors
• Interface modules and electronic timers
• Mechanical latching blocks

Is the TeSys D range a double break pole type contactor?

A protective cover is on guard to keep you from getting shocked when handling it. You'll find mounting is a cinch, as you only need to snap it to a DIN rail. The contactor's resistant to shock and vibration, so you can trust it to hold on tight if things get shaky.

Features & Benefits

• Ambient operating temperature range between -5°C and +60°C to withstand harsh industrial environments
• Mechanical durability rating of 30Mcycles for lasting use
• Built-in overvoltage protection helps prevent electric fires and overheating

Applications

• Lighting fixtures
• Automotive engineering
• Electric motors
• Industrial pumps

How fast does this contactor operate?

This contactor has an opening time between 20 and 30ms so you can rest assured that its contacts open swiftly when it receives electrical energy. A closing time between 65.45 and 88.55ms means the contacts snap shut in a jiffy as the unit senses the closing signal.
