ABB AF50 Series Contactor, 50A Operational Current, 30kW Power Rating - 1SBL357201R7000

This contactor is an industrial four‑pole switching device designed to control non‑inductive and slightly inductive power loads in AC and DC power circuits up to 690 V. It accepts a wide control voltage range, allowing operation from 100 to 250V on 50 Hz, 60 Hz or DC supplies, and is intended for use where stable switching and tolerance to brief supply dips are required.

Features & Benefits

• Rated operational current 50A provides dependable power handling
• Four normally open main poles enable straightforward single‑step switching
• Power rating 30 kW supports medium‑power motor and heater circuits
• Electronic Coil Interface copes with 100 to 250V control variations
• Screw terminals ensure secure conductor connections under vibration
• Withstands control supply interruptions up to 20 MS for continuity

Applications

• Suitable for controlling resistance furnaces and heating elements
• Ideal for AC or DC power distribution switching up to 690 V
• Used for lighting and non‑inductive industrial loads
• Can be used in transport and rail equipment where voltage dips occur

What Terminal types are provided for connecting mains conductors?

Main and control connections use screw terminals compatible with flexible and rigid cables

main circuit flexible with ferrule 6 to 16mm², rigid 6 to 25 mm².

How does the Coil consumption affect control circuits?

At the maximum rated control voltage the holding consumption is low (approx. 7 to 2.8 V·A) while pull‑in requires higher apparent power (∼210 V·A), enabling reduced steady‑state draw after engagement.

What environmental limits apply to installation?

The device operates in free Air between −40 °C and +70 °C and may be stored between −60 °C and +80 °C

maximum service altitude is 3 000 m.

What electrical switching performance can be expected under AC‑3 loads?

AC‑3 rated power reaches up to 30 kW depending on supply voltage and the contactor supports switching frequencies up to 300 cycles/hour for AC‑3 duties.
