The Atmel ATWILC1000 is a link controller meant for usage with third party TCP/IP stacks providing IEEE 802.11b/g/n WiFi support in a 2.4GHz band. The firmware of the ATWILC1000 is loaded from the host MCU. This provides an easy way of updating the WiFi module firmware together with the host MCU firmware. The WiFi firmware can be loaded from an externel source as well.
