Eaton Cartridge Fuse, 8A Current, 600V Voltage - FWC-8A10F

This cartridge fuse provides high-speed overcurrent protection for industrial power electronics and distribution systems, designed for AC networks up to 600 V. It is a cylindrical, ceramic-bodied insert intended to protect power converters, reduced-voltage starters and DC common-bus applications where fast interruption of fault currents is required.

Features & Benefits

• Fast-acting characteristic reduces semiconductor fault energy
• Rated for 8A to protect low-current power circuits
• Breaking capacity 200 kA limits prospective fault damage
• Suitable for AC/DC systems across typical supply frequencies
• Cylindrical ceramic body improves thermal and mechanical stability

Applications

• Suitable for protecting DC drives and converters
• Ideal for reduced-voltage motor starter circuits
• Used for AC distribution in automation panels
• Can be used for protection in power rectifier assemblies
• Suitable as a replacement fuse in 10 x 38mm fuse-holders

What is the typical construction material and why does it matter?

The fuse uses a ceramic body which offers enhanced thermal endurance and mechanical robustness under high fault currents.

How does the utilisation category affect protective coordination?

The aR designation means it is intended to protect semiconductors by clearing short-circuit currents rapidly while not designed for general circuit isolation duties.

Can this fuse be used on both AC and DC supplies?

Yes, its design supports AC and DC applications, making it compatible with common busbars and drive systems.

What form factor is required for installation?

It fits standard 10 x 38mm cylindrical fuse-holders without a striker option, so holders must accept non-striker inserts.

What approval standard is relevant for industrial specification checks?

The product conforms to recognised UL fuse standards applicable to cylindrical high-speed fuse-links.
