MCP73831 Li-Polymer Battery Charge Controllers

Microchips MCP73831 battery charge controllers are designed for single cell Li-Lion and Li-Polymer batteries. They're greatly advanced linear controllers and exceptionally great in space limited and cost effective. Included on the device is integrated pass transistor, integrated current sensing and reverse discharge protection. All of this is packed onto a 5-pin, SOT-23 package for minimal space use.

MCP73831 uses a constant current charge algorithm with selectable preconditioning and charge termination.

Features and Benefits:

  • Small SOT-23 package and cost effective

  • High accuracy pre-set voltage regulation - ± 0.75%

  • Four voltage regulation options – 4.2V, 4.35V, 4.4V, 4.5V

  • Programmable charge current – 15mA up to 500mA

  • Charge status can output to LEDs

  • Chip integrated thermal regulation

  • Under voltage lockout

Applications:

  • Lithium Ion and Polymer battery chargers

  • Bluetooth headsets

  • Digital cameras

  • Personal data assistants

  • Cellular telephones

  • MP3 players

  • USB chargers
