An axial fan is a device that creates airflow by using a motor to rotate blades housed within in a square or round frame. The rotating fan blades draw air into the fan and expel the flow in the same direction across a surface to cool it. Three wire fans or Tacho fans have an integrated electronic tachometer. The red and black wires are for the power supply to the fan. The third coloured wire (often yellow or white) is connected directly to the output of the hall sensor. A pulsed output is generated which is used to monitor the speed of the fan. This feature is useful in applications such as PC’s, laptops and data equipment.

How is the fan mounted?
The 4314 series of DC axial fans have 4 x 4.3 mm holes in each outside corner of the frame.
How is the fan connected?
The 4314 series of DC axial fans are connected via 310 mm 22 AWG wires. The third coloured wire is for the tachometer output. (Usually yellow or white)
Are there any accessories available?
Finger guards are available separately, see part numbers 826-1354 and 826-1357. Finger guards are designed to protect contact with rotating parts and the ingress of foreign particles.
