Cable CSA Calculator
Use our helpful cable cross-sectional area calculator to determine your wire’s area.
Calculating the cross-sectional area (CSA) of a wire is essential in many applications and installations. However, it can be tricky as it’s not possible to directly measure the CSA of a wire or cable.
Fortunately, our handy tool can help you quickly and easily determine the CSA of your wire, saving you more time to focus on your projects.
To use the calculator, simply input the number of strands in your wire and the diameter of a strand (in mm). Then, just click the “calculate” button and our tool will provide you with the cross-sectional area of your wire (in mm²).
Wire cross-sectional area can be calculated using the formula:
A = n d² π / 4
= 0.7854 n d²
In this equation:
A = The cross-sectional area (CSA)
n = The number of strands in the wire
d = The diameter of a single strand
Our cable cross-sectional area calculation tool ensures you choose the right cable for your requirements.
