    Spring Balances RS PRO

A spring balance, also known as a Newton Meter or Spring Balance Scales, is a type of weighing scale used to measure the force exerted on an object, typically in Newtons. This force, which is essentially the weight of the object, is calculated as the product of its mass and gravity (W=mg). The device consists of a cylindrical tube with a spring inside. One end is fixed to an adjuster for calibration, while the other end has a hook for hanging objects. As objects are added, the spring stretches, and the resultant force can be read from the scale.

    Types of Spring Balances

There are many types of spring balances available. The more robust models are often found to be the cylindrical forms however, many models are prone to overextension of the spring mechanism if excessive weight is added. Choosing a model which does not allow the spring to be overstretched will increase its lifespan as well as to provide a more accurate reading over time.

We offer spring balances that are show Imperial measurements with a weighted capacity up to 490N, metric measurements with a weighted capacity up to 50kg and a few that feature both imperial and metric. Giving you a multitude of options to choose from for your given application. If you are looking for calibrated spring balance, we also offer variations with our RSCAL applied. To learn more about our calibration services please see our service page here.

Ensure spring balances are calibrated to read 0N when no mass is attached before use. You can find out more in our Newton meters guide.

RS has a large variety of Spring Balances to choose from, brought to you by industry leading brands such as CK, Tektronix and of course our trusted own brand RS PRO.
