What is an inspection camera?

Also referred to as a borescope or endoscope, an inspection camera is a device used to visually inspect areas that are difficult to access. The inspection camera is placed at the end of a flexible cable and a viewing screen can be plugged in at the other end. This enables the user to access difficult and confined spaces efficiently and directly. As a result, any issues can be identified in real-time videos or images.

What is the difference between an Endoscope and Borescope?

Whilst endoscopes and borescopes have some similarity in their functionality, they do have some slight differences, particularly in their design and applications.

Borescopes, also known as fibrescopes, have a rigid design to withstand harsh environments. They may also have features like lighting options and bending capabilities to make it more manoeuvrable and adhere to different environment requirements. This is particularly useful as borescopes can be used for maintenance, automotive, plumbing, non-destructive testing, and manufacturing purposes in many industrial and engineering settings.
Endoscopes, however, are often more flexible with delicate insertion tubes for medical purposes in the human body.
