    Damper Actuators

Damper actuators are air management accessories. These are devices that stop or regulate the flow of air inside a duct, chimney, VAV box or other air-handling equipment. They're commonly used in heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.

    How do damper actuators work?

A damper actuator requires a control signal and a source of energy, typically an electrical current, hydraulic fluid pressure or pneumatic pressure. They then convert that energy into motion.

Damper actuators may be used to cut off central air conditioning (heating or cooling) to an unused room, or to regulate it for room-by-room temperature and climate control. This in turn helps you to save on energy and energy bills.

    Types of damper actuators

There are two types of damper actuators: modulating and open/close.

    • A modulating damper actuator will position, or throttle, the damper or valve to achieve a desired position or flow.
    • An open/close damper actuator produces a two-position response (0% open or 100% open).
