Distribution Boards
A distribution board, also known as a panel board or consumer unit, is a vital component of any electrical system. Its primary role is to receive power from the main supply and safely distribute it to individual circuits throughout a building. Typically located near the main electrical feed, every property will have at least one distribution board.
The size and configuration of a distribution board depend on the total electrical load and the number of circuits required. Inside the enclosure, key components include the main switch, circuit breakers, earth leakage devices, and bus bars—all working together to protect against overloads, short circuits, and earth faults.
