Self Aligning Bearing

Self aligning bearings are a type of radial bearing designed to correct any misalignment. This can happen in applications where the shaft is caused to bend, the housing causes misalignment or there is incorrect mounting. Self-aligning bearings are able to withstand radial loads and smaller axial loads.

Self aligning ball bearings work in a similar way to traditional ball bearings. However, they feature two rows of balls which help with alignment by rotating in parallel with the outer ring. The inner ring features two raceways and the outer ring has one raceway.

Using a self-aligning bearing can prevent damage and and increase operational life. They reduce the levels of friction that would be caused by misalignment, and require less lubrication. Incorporating self  alignment into your design means that tolerances for other components can be wider. Open-end and sealed bearings are available for a wide range of applications.
