Timer Relays

pTimer Relays are a type of Control Relay with a time delay built in./p h2Timer Relay or Electromechanical Relay?/h2 pThe difference between the timer relay and electromechanical relay is that when the output contacts open or close. On a conventional Control Relay, the contacts are opened or closed when a voltage is applied and removed from the coil - for timer relays, however, the contacts will open or close before or after an intentional time period. When choosing the right Timer Relay it is important to consider the right kind of delay required for your application./p h2What are the types of Timer Relays that I can choose from?/h2 pThe most common timing function of Time Delay Relay are:/p ulliOn Delay (Time delay starts on the application of voltage)/li liOff Delay (When a voltage is applied the relay is ready to accept a trigger)/li liSingle Shot (One-shot)/li liInterval On (Interval) and Flasher (On First / Off First)/li liRepeat Cycle (When a voltage is applied the relay contacts change state and the timer starts)/li/ul pWhen designing your application it is important to understand the difference between the particular types of the timer relays. That means to consider what should initiate the delay and whether the timing should start at the same time as the application as well as when the voltage is released./p h2Timer Relays are triggered/initiated by either:/h2 ulliVoltage being applied or/li liThe closing or opening of a trigger signal/li/ul h2Trigger signals are either:/h2 ulliControl Switch ( Dry Contact) such as a limit switch, float switch or push button or/li liVoltage ( Power Trigger)/li/ul h2Where can I use Timer Relay?/h2 pTime Delay Relays are typically used in industrial applications and OEM equipment play an important role for many industrial processes such as small panel or sub-panels requirements./p ulliLighting circuits/li liMotor start control/li liSensitive equipment/li liSafety control/li liConveyor belt sequence delay/li/ul
