Temperature Sensor
Temperature Sensors are used in a wide range of industrial and commercial applications. Temperature Sensors are one of the most common types of Thermistors used in industry today. They are a popular choice as they last longer, function better, and are incredibly accurate.
RS offer an extensive selection of high-quality Temperature Sensors from industry-leading brands including Amphenol, Carel, Correge, Electrotherm, Eliwell, EPCOS, Hanna Instruments, Laird Connectivity, TE Connectivity & Testo
How does a Temperature Sensor work?
Temperature Sensors, in the form of Thermistors, use resistance to detect temperature in which resistance increases or decreases with changes with temperature dependant on the type of Temperature Sensor being used. The amount of change in resistance is dependent on the detecting material used in the thermistor and the media being measured. A temperature sensor is used to monitor the temperature of the Thermistor and sends a signal to a heater or cooler to regulate the temperature of the sensor. Applications for Temperature Sensors include
- Digital Thermometers
- Overcurrent Protection
- Motor Starters
- Household Appliances
- HVAC Refrigeration
Temperature Sensors possess some key features including
- Extremely long life
- High efficiency
- Low power requirements
- Easy to install and maintain
- Safe and convenient
