From RS Pro, these Multipole audio/video connectors are manufactured for professional use. The “AXR”/”XLR” compatible connectors are precision made with zinc diecast bodies and silver-plated, solid brass turned contacts. A huge benefit of these connectors is the “squeeze” release clip, which enables plugs and sockets to be unplugged quickly with a simple push-down device. Wiring and assembly are also simple operations and a collet arrangement can accommodate cable diameters ranging from 2.8 mm to 8.0 mm to provide an effective cable grip. All models are highly reliable and excellent quality.

Frequently asked questions

Who was the first XLR inventor?

James H. Cannon invented the first XLR Connector in Los Angeles in 1950s.

How to clean XLR Connectors safely and correctly?

The tolerance to dirt or contamination for XLR Connectors are extremely low. Therefore, to keep it free from dust, it is vital to use the appropriate equipment. We are recommending our own branded RS PRO electrical contact cleaning equipment 554-298.

It is not a good practice using swabs or cloths as they leave threads behind meaning decreasing contact performance and lifetime.

What is the difference between Male and Female Connectors?

A Male Connector has solid pins (usually between three to seven pins) whereas Female Connector has central conductor with a-holes.
