Filament Test Lamps Drummond MTL7 and MTL9C
Two filament test lamps giving safe indication of voltages between 150V and 500Vac/dc. Their robust design meets the recommendations of the Health and Safety Executive in their guidance notes on electricians test lamps (GS38)
MTL 7
The lamp housing, moulded in hard rubber, contains the 15W rough service SES pygmy lamp. Both the lamp housing and the probe contain a 500mA HRC fuse, have a finger shield and removable insulated probe tip with only 2mm of exposed metal. The probe handle contains a 4000Ω series resistor. A two layer double insulated cable with white inner insulation gives a clear warning of abrasion that might compromise the users safety, and is resistant against flame, heat and oil. To enable use in most circumstances a right angled probe tip is supplied in addition to the two straight tips. For convenience a small pouch is attached to the cable for storage of the probe tips.
MTL9C Additional Features
The MTL9C incorporates a test circuit, totally enclosed in a small moulded case and mounted on the cable. This continuity tester indicates continuity in the test lamp circuit and thus warns of fault conditions such as a blown fuse or broken filament lamp, (this test ignores the presence of the LED circuit).
Caution
Test lamps should be proved safe before and after use, by testing on a known live circuit, using the continuity tester, or through the Martindale PD690 proving unit.
Caution
This unit should be checked for correct operation using a known voltage before use.
