The Microchip High accuracy CMOS upgrades for bipolar low drop-out regulators (LDOs) offer significant improvements in performance, such as the LP2980. The total supply current is typically 55 μA, which is 20 to 60 times lower than that of bipolar regulators. Supply current is reduced to 0.5 μA (max), and VOUT falls to zero when the shutdown input is low. These devices also incorporate overcurrent and over temperature protection.
