Honeywell Bi-Metallic Thermostat, Opens at +120°C - 2455RM Series - 2455RM 9082-471 L120
This Honeywell bi-metallic thermostat is designed for applications that need a status indication for over-temperature regulation. To actuate the normally closed (NC) contacts, it uses a temperature-sensitive disc, which is thermally and electrically isolated from the SPST (single pole, single throw) switch itself. The high-performance silver-nickel-alloy contacts open when surface or ambient temperatures increase to the operating setpoint (+120°C). The manual reset can be operated at approximately 70% of the operating temperature. With an operating temperature range between +50°C and +150°C, this device is suitable for heat-intensive environments.

Why does this thermostat use two metals in its disc?
When a bi-metallic disc is heated, each of the two metals it contains react at a different rate. As one expands more than the other, the disc flexes, causing it to break the circuit and activate the system.
