RS PRO Thermistor 5 Ω, 13 mm (Dia.) x 6 mm


The RS PRO thermistor limits inrush current and helps prevent damage to components mounted on printed circuit boards. It has a negative temperature coefficient (NTC) and can be used on switch-mode power supplies.

This ceramic metal oxide component features highly stable electrical and thermal characteristics offering effective resistance against current surges when powering up devices. The amount of resistance it provides varies depending on its temperature. Its NTC means resistance reduces as it heats up, allowing normal current to flow. When the power is switched off it cools, returning to high resistance mode.

Thermistors such as this are also useful as self-resetting overcurrent protectors and self-regulating heating elements. They can be used in small electric motors, filament lamps and transformers. This component is UL (Underwriters Laboratories) approved and meets TUV (Technischer Überwachungsverein or Technical Inspection Association) requirements for electrical components in Germany.
