Schmersal Solenoid Interlock Switch with Power to Lock Function, 24V AC/DC - AZM 170 Series - AZM 170-02ZRKA 24 VAC/DC

This interlock switch from Schmersal is a robust way of locking machine guards. Use it to avoid interrupting processes that shouldn't be halted once they've started, such as robotic welding. The lock is activated by turning on power to the switch (power-to-lock), which prevents incorrect locking and a high clamping force of 1000 Newtons helps to avoid accidental openings. A tough thermoplastic housing and resistance to dust and water mean this is a reliable choice for industrial use.

Features and Benefits

• Impact-resistant thermoplastic housing
• Long service life, for assured reliability
• Ingress protection of IP67 (to IEC/EN 60529 standards)
• Wide operating temperature range (-25°C to +60°C) makes it suitable for most environments
• Flexibility of AC/DC power options

Application Information

• Industrial machinery
• Automotive manufacture
• Machine guarding

Do I need a power-to-lock or a power-to-unlock switch?

Power-to-lock switches are best suited to process guards – once power is applied, they prevent accidental interruption. For machinery where the hazard remains after power is removed (such as a circular saw), power-to-unlock is the safer choice, as it stops the guard being opened even if power is lost.
