This safety switch is positive mode and tongue operated, and provides electrical interlocking of the machine’s safety guard to the control circuit. When the door is open power to the machine is isolated, ensuring that personnel cannot access dangerous machinery while it is running. It also keeps the safety barrier securely locked while machinery is in motion, reducing risk of injury. This affordable guard locking switch is ideally suited for use with machinery which does not come to an immediate stop, or which may be damaged by interference while running. It works by securing the tongue in the switch when power is applied to the solenoid. The mechanism is released when power is removed, which allows the tongue to be extracted.

The 440G-T27127 switch has a supply voltage of 24VAC/DC. It features 2NC Safety Contacts, 1NO Auxiliary Contact, and 1NC/1NO Solenoid Contacts. The housing material is made of resilient UL approved glass-filled PBT and it has an operating temperature of -20 to +60 °C (-4…+140 °F). The conduit entry is M20, and it has a thermal current of 10A and rated insulation voltage of 500V. For additional protection against actuator damage due to poor gate alignment and wear-and-tear it is fitted with a stainless-steel actuator guide. It is suitable for use with PLCs.

A solenoid interlock switch is a type of safety switch with an internal solenoid; a wire coil which converts electrical energy to mechanical. This type of mechanism limits access to dangerous areas where machinery may be functioning by ensuring that that barriers remain securely shut. The safety guard can only be opened through either energising (Power to Release) or de-energising (Power to Lock) the solenoid with an external signal. They are often used in industrial environments, for example with high inertia rotating machines.
