RS PRO IEC Colour Coded Miniature In-Line Thermocouple Plug Connectors
From RS PRO a miniature in-line thermocouple plug connector which is colour coded in accordance with IEC specification. This thermocouple plug is ideal for connecting your thermocouple probe or wire terminals to extension or compensating cables. This male plug also provides a quick, safe and error-free way of replacing your existing thermocouples. The plug housing is made from a rugged glass-filled thermoplastic which is impact resistant and able to withstand high temperatures of up to 220°C. The pins on this male connector have a flat design and are polarised to ensure an accurate connection. The housing is IEC colour coded with the thermocouple type clearly indicated on the front for easy identification.
What is a Thermocouple Connector?
Thermocouple connectors are an accurate and convenient way of interconnecting your temperature sensing components. Using these connectors allows a chain to be formed from the measuring tip of your temperature sensor to the host computer or meter. It is important that all the components in the chain are made from the same thermocouple material to prevent any alteration or distortion of the original signal. To achieve this, thermocouple connectors have pins made from the same material as the thermocouple they are being used to connect or a compensating material. The connector housing has the thermocouple type clearly printed on it and is also colour coded to allow easy identification. The connector is opened up and the thermocouple wires are simply screwed down into place using two captive screw clamps. The miniature thermocouple plug connector can then be plugged into a mating miniature thermocouple socket connector.

Accessories
Miniature In-Line Thermocouple Plug
This RS Pro miniature thermocouple plug is for use with Type K thermocouples, and can be used to connect to probes, extension cable assemblies and sockets. This in-line connector is of rugged construction and is ideal for demanding temperature measurement applications.
The simple screw-together construction of the plug allows it to be easily and securely terminated to either a cable or crimp-on probe insert. An attachable cable clamp is also available to further secure the connection and prevent strain on the wire.
The plug is also colour coded for ease of identification, and has polarized contacts to ensure correct connection.
Applications
K Type thermocouples typically measure a wide range of temperatures and are used in many digital thermometers. This robust connector is ideal for when reliability and durability are essential.
Features and Benefits
• All contacts are polarised to ensure the correct connection.
• Connectors accept thermocouple cable to 4 mm in diameter.
• Cable clamp available for securing cable to connectors.
• Colour coded in accordance with IEC specification.
• Operating temperature +220°C max.
• The thermocouple plug has a Nickel Chromium positive pin and a Nickel Alloy negative pin.
