RS PRO Insulated Mono Mini Jack

From RS PRO, this 2 pole mono jack plug offers an economic and reliable solution for audio applications. The phono connector is easy to terminate, and has a plastic cap for insulation. It also features a moulded cable sleeve to protect against potential damage caused by tugging and pulling of the cable. The unique hexagonal shape of the jack connector casing means it is easier to grip, which is ideal for plugging and unplugging in difficult to access areas.

This jack plug has solder tab termination, and a nickel plated contact for a cost-effective phono connection solution.

• 1/8" mini jack
• 2 Pole jack plug for mono applications
• Nickel plated contact
• Moulded strain relief
• Easy to terminate

Applications

3.5mm mono jack connectors are often used in both domestic and commercial hi-fi systems, where a custom audio set-up is required.

FAQ

Q: Are 1/8" mini jacks compatible with 1/4" standard jacks?
A: An adapter is needed to connect a 3.5mm stereo jack plug to a 6.3mm jack socket. Adapters are commonly available and often ensure no tangible loss of quality in the connection.

Q: What is the difference between 2 pole and 3 pole jack plugs?
A: For professional and typical audio applications, 3 pole jack plugs are often used as they are stereo and suitable for most purposes. 2 pole jack plugs are only suitable for mono applications, such as running individual sound feeds to specific speakers in an audio concert setup. They are often used to plug guitars into amps, so much so that they are often called guitar jacks.
