MPLAB Xpress Development Board

The MPLAB Xpress Evaluation Board from Microchip is a development tool that offers a swift and flexible prototyping experience for 8-bit PIC Microcontrollers. For users new to PIC devices, the MBLAB Xpress Board serves as an excellent introduction. Both new and experienced users alike can enjoy the rapidity at which new ideas can be explored using a cloud-based integrated development environment (IDE).

MPLAB Xpress IDE – Cloud-Based Development

The board works seamlessly with MPLAB Xpress, Microchip’s free cloud-based integrated development environment (IDE). MPLAB Xpress is a streamlined version of MPLAB X and shares most of the key features.

To access MPLAB Xpress all that is needed is a PC or Mac that is connected to the Internet. Using an in-browser IDE means that software download and machine configuration is not required, speeding up prototyping.

MPLAB Xpress Board Hardware

An 8-bit PIC16F18855 MCU is used at the core of the MPLAB Xpress Board. The PIC16F18855 is a feature-rich 8-bit device with an extensive array of core-independent peripherals and power-saving features that can be used to prototype a wide variety of 8-bit applications.

A mikroBUS expansion header allows one of the many MikroElektronika Click Expansion Boards to be attached. This feature makes the MPLAB Xpress Board a flexible tool with which to explore many different sensor, connectivity and control technologies. An on-board Potentiometer and 2 Push Buttons can also be used to generate inputs.
