Accelerometers, Adafruit
The Adafruit MMA8451 (2019) high-precision accelerometer module is the perfect introduction to accelerometer technology. It is based on the Freescale Xtrinsic MMA8451Q 3-axis accelerometer IC. This device is so tiny that you can easily integrate it into portable devices.
The MMA8451 enables you to capture motion, tilt and orientation. It is a great way to incorporate this technology into your Arduino projects and discover the world of accelorometers. For example, use the MMA8451 to detect which way round you are holding a smartphone, and which direction is it tilted. You could do the same for tablets and smart watches too!
The MMA8451 also features a 14-bit ADC (analogue-to-digital converter). The on-board sensor communicates over an I2C interface. Therefore you can add other sensors on the same I2C pins.

How does it connect?
The MMA8451Q comes with an 8-pin 0.1 header so you can connect it easily to a breadboard or perfboard. The module has two mounting holes for attachment.
Power:
The MMA8451 houses a 3V sensor, plus a 3.3V LDO regulator and level shifting circuity. So you can use 3V or 5V power and logic with this module.
What is its usage range?
The MMA8451 has a usage range from +-2g up to +-8g.
