The Microchip Summary PL485-EK is an evaluation kit for the PL485, a programmable System On Chip (SOC) for narrow-band Power Line Communication (PLC) from Microchip. PL485 is a highly integrated PLC device which requires reduced PCB area and simplifies the design layout.
PL485 EK is designed to be directly connected to low voltage DC power rails The kit can be connected to AC mains by means of PLC-AC-Coupler accessory from Microchip (see “Related Tools” tab)
PL485-EK implements a coupling circuit optimized for the band 95 to 125kHz, compliant with CENELEC standard EN50065
This EK can be modified to transmit in other frequency ranges below 500kHz, please check our Application Notes.
