Bright mild steel is a carbon steel alloy that has had its surface 'drawn' by peeling or grinding. As well as creating the characteristic bright appearance, this process removes defects from the surface for a smooth finish.
Because of their pleasing look, rods made from bright mild steel are suitable for applications where aesthetics are a consideration, such as garden gates. This RS PRO rod has a minimum tensile strength of 390 N/mm², so is best suited for lower-stress applications such as manufacturing turned components.
