ACS55 Micro drive, Single Phase Input variable speed drive (VSD)

An easy to use range of drives designed specifically for the control of low-power motors which do not require the control sophistication of more complex drive units, designed to give the benefits of variable control to users of simple motor starters. Easy to set up, programme and control the motor speed when using the optional potentiometer unit (stock no 493-1059)

The motor control is scalar control, so is suitable for simple applications without the need for highly accurate speed or torque control. Like fans, pumps, simple conveyors and simple machines. The simple interface is designed to introduce users of DOL starters to the advantages of variable speed.

No programming required, easy and descriptive interface used to set up the motor control
All drive set-up is done using the 3 panel potentiometers, including motor nominal current
8 dip switches for other parameters including nominal motor frequency, load torque type (for example, pump/fan or constant torque), jog, AI offset (4-20 mA) and auto reset
Possible to access additional parameters via a PC tool (optional), the PC tool also allows programming with no power connected to the drive module
Fault and status indication LEDs
Adjustable switching frequency (for low noise)
Accel and Decel ramp rates, fixed frequencies available to program
Built-in EMC filter, suitable for domestic networks
As it is a VSD, motor protection is on-board, overcurrent, overvoltage, overloads all included
Removable mounting clip for DIN Rail or wall mounting from either the rear or side of the drive.
Please see the data sheets for dimensions etc.
Protection rating IP20

Benefits

ABB ACS55 drives bring several benefits:
Improves motor speed control compared to DOL
Easy migration for users of simple motor starters
Helps to eliminate starting and stopping problems
May be networked with other automation equipment (via I/O)
Load compensation features
Sophisticated motor protection and control
Single phase supply controlling a 3 phase motor

Note

Motors may require de-rating when used in conjunction with motor speed controllers, as their cooling fans may not provide sufficient cooling when running slower, please contact ABB if help is required.

Approvals

CE, C-Tick approvals, UL, cUL, GOST R and RoHS compliant
