The outer casing and inner contact carrier are constructed from a toughened engineering material designed to provide high thermal stability and mechanical strength. An easy opening and closing hinged lid provide extra protection to the sockets inner contact carrier tubes when not in use. A tight rubber seal on the inner lid and bayonet locking ring system ensures a watertight seal. A domed cable gland at the rear of the waterproof industrial connector provides external cable clamping and additional support. 16A sockets have an additional safety feature. A shutter closes at the front of the socket contact tubes when the socket is not in use. This prevents accidental contact of live parts with slim foreign objects like screwdrivers and wires reducing the chance of electric shock.
