RS PRO 100 VA 1 Output Chassis Mounting Transformer, 6 V AC, 9 V AC, 12 V AC, 18 V AC
This chassis-mounting transformer from RS PRO converts 230 V AC inputs into 6, 9, 12 or 18 V AC. It achieves this by using a multi-tapped secondary winding to produce a safe output current. It's used to reduce voltage loss when using long runs of cable, thin wire or multiple high power-consumption fixtures.
Thanks to the transformer's double-section bobbin construction, which allows you to connect two independent secondary windings in series or in parallel, you can create a range of circuit configurations. A multi-hole frame fixing lets you install it in a variety of positions. Fully shrouded bobbins guard against electrical interference and the coils are varnish-impregnated to boost their dielectric strength. Solder tag terminations allow you to make secure connections.
The transformer is fully electrical and flash tested in accordance with BS3535 and EN 60742, which means it's safe when subjected to a high voltage. Multi-tap transformers such as these are commonly used in heating element applications.
