Cam followers of the KR design are fitted with needle rollers and have a thick outer ring making them suitable for shock loads.

The outer ring is guided via the integral flange at the head of the stud and the pressed on side washer

These slide rings reduce the friction and give relatively cool operation that is advantageous for the grease service life
In the radial direction the slide ring forms a narrow gap to the outer ring that protects against course contaminations
Operating temperature range is -30 to +100°C
The PPA design has an improved profile of the runner surface which gives a better stress distribution, also under misaligned conditions

SKF Stud Cam Follower 18 mm ID, 40 mm OD - KR40-PPA
This cam follower is an effective choice for any cam system, from washing machines to industrial equipment. The thick outer ring means it withstands high radial impact loads. For easy mounting using an Allen key, the follower comes with hexagonal recesses at each end of the stud. To reduce friction, there are lubrication holes for press-in grease fittings in the centre of each recess and a hole in the stud seat. The follower can also accommodate adaptors from a centralised system so that you can automate and simplify lubrication.

How can I mount cam followers safely?
Use a tightening torque of 87 Nm for mounting. Once fully tightened, make sure the lubrication hole in the stud head is not supporting any load by aligning it to the SKF trademark symbol at the head.
