RS PRO 3.6V Lithium Manganese Dioxide Button Battery, ER2450

Introducing the RS PRO Lithium Manganese Dioxide Button Battery, ideal for use in electronic devices that require a small, compact source of power. This non-rechargeable RS PRO battery provides a reliable battery solution for specialist applications by offering a high-performance rate and long-lasting operational and storage life. It offers a wide operating temperature range, with excellent resistance to wet environments, making these batteries suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. A versatile battery that can be used across a wide of range applications, this RS PRO battery offers a long-lasting and reliable solution at a great price.

Features and Benefits:

  • This RS PRO button battery is easy to use and made from Lithium Manganese Dioxide (Li-MnO2) which is a non-flammable electrolyte

  • This battery offers a high energy density and a high voltage response which is stable during most of the application’s lifetime

  • It has a wide operating temperature range of -55 to +125°C

  • Each battery has long storage and operational life with a low self-discharge rate of less than 1% per year at 25°C

Applications:

Lithium manganese dioxide batteries are types of batteries that are generally used in electronic devices that need a powerful, but compact source of power. They are great batteries that offer high capacity and energy density while maintaining a long operational life. In addition to this, these types of batteries generally offer a long shelf life too when not in use with a slow self-discharge rate, making them ideal for use in electronic devices, even when the devices are not in use. These batteries are most commonly used for applications like:
  • Memory back-up

  • Notebook

  • Desktop computer

  • Mobile phone

  • PDA’s

  • Office equipment

  • Fax machines

Are lithium manganese dioxide batteries harmful?

These batteries can sometimes leak a substance called potassium hydroxide which is a caustic agent that could cause potential skin, eye and respiratory irritations. To reduce the risk of this type of leak happening, batteries of different manufacturer types and different chemistries should not be mixed. In addition to this, it is also recommended to replace all batteries at the same time to reduce this risk even more.

How should lithium manganese dioxide batteries be disposed of?

Any batteries should be disposed of in accordance with the recommended battery recycling and disposal schemes available

Guidance:

  • Always install the batteries correctly as per instruction

  • Ensure that the contact points are clean and conductive

  • Do not mix different types of battery

  • Do not heat or attempt to recharge the battery

  • Do not dispose of in a fire

Safety Advice:

  • Keep out of sight and reach of children

  • Fire, explosion and burn hazard - Do not recharge, short circuit, crush, disassemble, heat above 100゚C (212゚F), incinerate

  • Due to the high terminal voltage (3.6V), they are not suitable as direct replacements for other battery technologies in the same can sizes
