3M Abrasive Disc, 50.8mm Diameter, 2-Ply Polyester Backing - Cubitron II Series - 27709

Feeling the grind of prepping and finishing your metalwork? Use this abrasive disc from 3M to lighten your load. It has a ceramic abrasive with precision-shaped grains that self-sharpen as you work. This means it quickly cuts through surfaces, taking the pressure off weld-removal, blending and finishing tasks. With a P60 grit size, it's well-suited to stripping and smoothing carbon steel, cobalt and nickel alloys, as well as stainless steel.

Features & Benefits

• 2-ply polyester cloth backing makes it durable
• YF backing weight to handle the heat of grinding tasks
• Maximum safe speed of 25,000rpm to work with powerful tools

Applications

• Metal fabricating
• Automotive industry
• Construction sites
• Agricultural machinery
• Aerospace engineering

How does this disc attach to sanders and grinders?

The disc has a plastic screw in the centre, making it easy to fix on and remove from Roloc backing pads (such as 288-471).

Would you be able to use these discs on wood?

These abrasive discs are designed to be used on metal and are not recommended to be used on wood.

What safety requirements should I observe?

When grinding metal or sanding, appropriate personal protection equipment should be worn. Gloves, eye protection and even respiratory protection are essential PPE for general purpose grinding and polishing applications.

For safe operation of an angle grinder, be sure you have participated in appropriate training and are aware of all safety advice relevant to the material you are working on.
