3M Medium-Grade Ceramic Grinding Disc, 50mm Diameter, P80 Grit - SC-DR Series - SC-DR 09782
Use this medium-duty grinding disc from 3M for refining, blending or preparing metal surfaces. It dulls sharp edges and reduces roughness for a smooth cosmetic finish. The disc is suitable for use on a wide range of metals, including stainless steel, making it a versatile option. There's little chance of clogging, thanks to its unique woven pattern. Choose a disc like this one for grinding and smoothing weld seams or to remove unwanted coatings from metal.
• Ceramic aluminium oxide grain for improved efficiency and durability• Scotch-Brite technology offers a burr-free paintable finish without damaging the base material • Designed to resist loading, so it doesn't have to be replaced frequently• Supplied in a convenient pack of 50 so you'll have plenty in stock
Applications
• Metal door assembly• Turbine equipment• Industrial manufacturing
The unique construction of the Scotch-Brite™ disc is made up of non-woven fibres and aluminium oxide abrasive making it tough and durable. Compared to traditional abrasives that quickly wear down when used, this discs high cut-rate, hardness, strength and low heat retention make aluminium oxide a popular choice.
Does this disc generate a lot of heat?
This disc produces low heat thanks to its 3M precision-shaped grain, which is a triangular-shaped ceramic grain that wears evenly to provide durability and consistency. It allows heat to directly dissipate from a workpiece, which greatly minimises the risk of overheating and helps to produce high-quality parts.
Quick Change system
The Roloc™ system from 3M™ provides a secure attachment on heavy duty applications. It allows for Roloc discs to be quickly swapped out from one application to another in seconds. The plastic threaded button or screw is designed to easily and quickly screw on a Roloc TR disc pad (50 mm backing pad - 288-471).
Features and Benefits
• Tough non-woven disc aggressively deburrs and finishes
• Conformable, non-woven disc with Roloc™ backing for aggressive cutting
• Achieve consistent finishes with open-web construction that resists loading and runs cool
• Convenient 3M™ Roloc™ attachment system offers quick and easy disc change-out for multi-step finishing processes
Typical Applications
The bristle disc is capable of:
• Removing paint, rust, harden adhesives, light scratches and weld burns and more.
• It's great for smoothing, polishing and cleaning most metals.
FAQ's
Benefits of using a non-woven disc?
Non-woven discs provide a uniformed and consistent performance throughout its lifetime. They are flexible to allow the material to adapt and conform to irregular surfaces. the open construction allows for air curculation for cool operation and reduces the potential for burning.
