RS sponsor for innovative charity fundraiser ‘Midnight Madness’

Combining UK’s smartest minds and iconic London venues to raise money for Raise your Hands

London, UK, 10 May 2019:

RS Components (RS), the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc (LSE:ECM), a global multi-channel provider of industrial and electronic products and solutions, is sponsoring Midnight Madness – a fundraising event being held to raise around £250k for Raise Your Hands, which supports small, effective charities that improve the lives of children across the UK.

The event is being held on Saturday 11th May at 8pm, across more than 25 top secret venues in central London - which will become one huge, overnight playground for the UK’s smartest business and academic minds, as each strives to win the most ambitious immersive challenge ever created: Midnight Madness.

Described as a cross between the Crystal Maze and the Da Vinci Code, this unique event involves 30 teams from across the UK’s finance sector competing to solve a series of fiendishly tricky puzzles located in iconic London landmarks. A wildcard team of Oxford academics will also be thrown into the mix.

From sunset to sunrise, competitors will experience immersive theatre and encounter role-playing actors as part of the game storyline. Designed by a creative team that includes a former McLaren engineer, each puzzle solved unlocks the next location. The winning team will be the first back to base.

The Midnight Madness game originated in New York and ran for several years. The final game in 2015 raised nearly $3.1m for charity. and included 41 puzzles, and 60 actors and volunteers. The fastest team finished in 12.5 hours.

Some of last year’s activities included an underground rave club, a boxing gym, performing mime on the south bank of the Thames, and running full pace over a deserted Tower Bridge at 2am.
