Tachometers

A tachometer, or revolution counter, measures the rotation speed of an object within a machine. The value is typically displayed in revolutions per minute (RPM) via analogue dial or digital display. Types of Tachometer:

• Non-Contact Tachometer: Measures rotational speed without physical contact, often using infrared or laser technology to detect the speed of a rotating object.
• Laser Tachometer: Uses a laser beam to measure the rotational speed of an object by detecting the reflection from a reflective surface on the rotating part.
• Contact Tachometer: Requires physical contact with the rotating object, typically using a wheel or probe that touches the surface to measure its speed.
• Optical Tachometer: Utilizes a light source, such as an LED or laser, and a photodetector to measure the speed of a rotating object by detecting interruptions in the light beam caused by a reflective marker on the object.
