Flue Gas Analysers

A flue gas analyser (FGA) is a portable, digital tool used by heating engineers to measure CO, oxygen (O2), differential pressure and temperature of a fossil fuelled appliance such as a fire, hot water heater and domestic boiler. The gas analysers can also measure a room's air as long as it has been calibrated in fresh air outside the room to be tested.

At RS, we offer a comprehensive range of flue gas analysers from leading brands such as Testo, Kane, and SAUERMANN. These high-quality instruments are essential for accurate measurement and analysis of flue gases, ensuring safety and efficiency in heating systems. With our fast delivery service, you can receive your equipment promptly to keep your projects on track. Additionally, we stock a wide variety of other essential tools for heating and gas engineers, including gas detectors and gas detection accessories, providing everything you need for effective and safe operations.

Why do I need to use a Flue Gas Analyser?

Flue gas analysers are vital equipment required by UK law for domestic and commercial service engineers when installing or maintaining heating appliances. They alert engineers to any safety and efficiency concerns with the appliance by measuring the concentration of different gases produced. This is extremely important for detecting the poisonous gas carbon monoxide, as it is odourless, colourless, and tasteless. Flue gas analysers are also used for achieving optimal combustion in boilers, and making sure appliances meet compliance requirements.   Flue gas analysers must be calibrated regularly to ensure they meet strict performance requirements and standards. At RS we offer calibrated products and offer a Calibration Service to keep your devices performing reliably and accurately in accordance with UK law.

Flue Gas Analysers are used across a range of gas safety applications such as:

• Installation, commissioning & service of domestic, oil or gas boilers
• Safety checks
• CO in a room or around an appliance
• Combustion performance checks
• Combustion efficiency checks
• Commissioning & servicing

Benefits of Flue Gas Analysers

• Draw gases straight from a flue
• Provides data on the screen that can stop healthy appliances from expensive and unnecessary stripping
• Record compliance with new regulations, such as the newly issued BS7967, which covers safety aspects of carbon monoxide and requirements for CO: CO2. ratio parameters; and the European Design Standard EN50379, which covers portable electrical devices used to measure combustion flue gas parameters.
• Accurate and stable pressure readings
• Readings are taken using a single probe and the effect of any burner adjustment is shown in real time, making it easy to make any adjustments, and then you can confirm the actions and document that the appliance is safe.
• Readings from a FGA will vary depending on the type of appliance. It is advised to always consult manufacturer's instructions.
